Why these frequencies per category?
Where the “every X days” come from, and how to change them.
Each category has a target frequency (“every X days”) that drives its colored dot and the rotation score. These values translate two simple ideas: each category brings fibers and compounds that the others do not (fructans of alliums, beta-glucans of mushrooms, live ferments of fermented foods…), and the microbiota prefers regular intakes to massive, spaced-out ones — bacteria that are no longer fed decline within a few days.
The suggested frequencies are common-sense markers, not prescriptions: dense for everyday categories (legumes, fermented foods — every 2 days), looser for the supporting categories (seaweed, spices). They can be customized in Settings → Category rhythmss, for example for a vegetarian diet, an intolerance or simply your tastes.
