Stevia
Stevia rebaudiana
infusion
Leaves with a very sweet taste, fresh or dried, slipped into mate or tea in Paraguay, where the Guaraní called it ka'a he'ẽ, “sweet herb”.
- Origin
- Paraguay and Brazil
- Season (United States)
- all year round
- Preparation
- One or two leaves, fresh or dried, are enough to sweeten a cup of tea or maté: they steep with it, then are removed; as green powder, a pinch sweetens a yoghurt.
- Did you know?
- Its glycosides are two to three hundred times sweeter than sugar.
